POCO X7 5G Review: Display and Design are the USP, So Where is the Shortcoming?
Xiaomi's independent brand Poco has been successful in creating its own identity in the Indian market. It has attracted users by offering high-tech features at an aggressive price. POCO X7 5G is its latest smartphone series, in which X7 5G and X7 Pro 5G have been launched. In terms of specs and features, these phones may follow the 'Redmi Note 14 Series', but Poco has created a different identity with the design and price. We have got POCO X7 5G for review. How is this phone in initial use, let's know in the first impression.
RAM + Chipset
The POCO X7 5G has a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset, which is made on 4nm TSMC process. The company sent us the yellow variant, which has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The initial performance of the phone seems fine to me. Apps are opening and closing quickly. It is handling the load of 10 to 12 tabs in the Chrome browser without interruption. The gaming performance of the phone is yet to come, for which you will have to wait for its detailed review.
Battery, Software
The POCO X7 5G runs on HyperOS based on Android 14. The company has promised 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates. The POCO X7 5G has a 5500mAh battery, it supports 45W turbo charging. It is claimed that this phone will be charged 100 percent in 47 minutes. In the initial use, the phone's battery seems durable and charging is also fast. However, the phone's battery test will tell how much power it has. Camera
POCO X7 5G has a 50MP main rear camera. It supports optical image stabilization and electronic image stabilization. To explain in simple language, the pictures you click with this camera will show more stability. It has an 8MP ultra-wide camera, which captures a field of view of 120 degrees. It has another 2MP sensor, which will be useful in macro shots. The phone has a 20MP selfie camera. In the initial shots, I liked the results of the selfie camera. The detail is coming out in the photo. The kind of pictures that people these days like to share on social media, the selfie camera is taking the same kind of pictures.
How is the Display of the Phone?
The smartphone has a 6.67-inch 3D curved AMOLED display. Its refresh rate is 120Hz and pixel resolution is 1.5k. The peak brightness of the display is 3000 nits. This makes it easy to use the phone even in sunlight. The screen looks very bright. This time the company has provided Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 safety with the phone. This will reduce scratches on the display to a great extent. I have been using the smartphone for the last 10-15 days and right now only one or two minor scratches are being seen on the display. People who are fond of playing mobile games will get a smooth scrolling and gaming experience with 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate.
Due to the curved display, the bezels of the phone are thin. I liked the size and color contrast of the phone for watching movies online. Due to thin bezels, the display is visible throughout the phone. The in-display fingerprint sensor of the phone works well. The phone gets unlocked in just one go. A small punch hole has been given in the center of the display.
Design and Build Quality
The company has launched this smartphone in three color options. It includes Cosmic Silver, Glacier Green, and yellow. We are using its Glacier Green color, which looks very good. Talking about the design of the phone, its back has a large camera module in the middle at the top, in which three camera sensors and flash are available.
POCO's big branding has been done at the bottom of the rear, which may not be liked by everyone. The back of the phone has a matte finish with Polycarbonate. Also, a pattern is seen, which is giving the phone a premium look. Due to this pattern, the chances of fingerprints on the phone are very less. Its built quality is very strong and premium. The phone is thin and light in weight. Due to this, it gives a good grip to hold it. The phone is 8.4mm thin. Its weight is less than 200 grams.
The phone is getting IP66 + IP68 + IP69 rating. This means that the handset will remain safe to a great extent even after falling in water. Power and volume rocker are given on its right. This position is quite good for me. While using the phone with one hand, you can easily use the power button and volume rocker. SIM tray is given at the bottom. USB Type-C port is given at the bottom of the phone for charging. The phone is equipped with dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. One speaker is available at the top of the phone and one at the bottom. With all these things, the phone can give you a premium look and feel in the mid-range.
